Default Oil Pan Gasket...Gotta pull pan just after install...

Can I reuse it? Clean it up and put it back on or has the torque sequence already deformed it when putting it on?

Stupid me got so into getting the pan back on that I didn't go back and check the torque on the oil pickup and return tubes. I put them on the night before and "snugged them up" so that they weren't loose, but didn't put them on with any real torque either as I wasn't sure what the number needed was. When I got torquing the oil pan bolts and felt that 3 and 6 lbs, I realized that I wasn't sure I got those things tight enough to stay and they are certainly not anything easy to go back and check.

My boyfriend who used to work on cars thinks since it's been there only a few hours that it might be able to be reused after cleaning it up, but we weren't sure, so here I am.

Makes me really mad as I missed the Petit Le Mans yesterday finishing it and it went up beautifully, albeit a pain to get some of the bolts started...

Any help appreciated!!!!

Thanks!

All right....after doing some more searching, I see where others have asked and been told it's okay since the car hasn't ran at all since it was installed..and it's only been overnight...so right now I'm going to pull it and clean it up and reinstall, unless I hear something really good and different....

At 4AM my search feature doesn't work so well :-)

It's fine to reuse the pan gasket. Don't worry a bit.

Thanks!!!!!! Gonna get the heater going in the garage and hopefully have it pulled, get things torqued, cleaned up and back on today and maybe...just maybe have the crossmember and new motor mounts installed...maybe, just maybe I will have a couple of days off this weekend before I go back to work!
