Default Re-dye your interior for $25

So I dyed the suede on some sneakers a few weeks ago...and it gave me an idea. I bought a few carpet pieces locally and tried out the same procedure.

You just have to remember to mix the dye with water 50/50. It spreads very evenly this way...then go over it with a sponge.

Also..take your time if removing the carpet. It rips easily. The dye goes on so easily that I might just do it in the car.

So was the carpet already black or red as in the pictures?

As far as I can tell, the 108090 and 90 is the same adhesive, just different packaging (and no rattle ball in the 90 can). My current project has been to remove the carpet, clean off the Permatex goo and install new jute under the carpet.

There is a downside to the RIT dye - it isn't UV stable and it will come off on you. I had a landlord who used RIT to re-dye the carpet in an apartment I used to rent and you couldn't walk across the floor barefoot or in socks. Carpet looked great for the first 6 months though (and the bottom of all my white socks matched the carpet!)
