Early 944 engine cutout issue
Hey guys. I have had my '83 944 for 17years now. About 4 years ago I ran into an engine stalling issue that kicked my butt. Subsequently it's been sitting in my garage ever since.
Here is the issue, the car fires up and runs no problem, as soon as I begin to depresss the clutch it dies immediately. I have replaced the rotor, cap, reference/speed sensor, the ECU, and some other odds and ends. All with no change to the issue. I have since noticed when it cuts out I can hear what sounds like a short from under the dash. I am thinking it is perhaps a bad ground?
My question to the experts here is what could possibly be causing this cutout that the clutch movement would be related to? Is there a ground related that could be the culprit? Any particular grounds or relays that I might not be seeing under the dash that you would suggest checking? Thanks a ton in advance! Would love to get it back on the road!

My first thought was maybe a cruise control switch, but an 83 didn't come with cruise control. There is nothing electrical about the clutch pedal.
Maybe your pedal is rubbing against some wires and chaffed the insulation off. It then shorts out when you press it. Have a look under the dash.
