The narrower the tire, the better the snow traction.
So, on my stock 16" rims which usually carry 205/55/16 and 225/50/16.
Can I go to a 195/55/16 and 205/55/16?
I am getting dedicated snows. So, know the dry performance will be junky but don't care about that. Need the car to go in the snow.
Thanks.

On my Audi I'm running 195/60/16 tires on 6.5" wide wheels. They're only a little taller than the 205/55 and I thought 10mm narrower was worth it. Blizzak WS60. Tirerack says they'll fit 5.5 - 7" rims.

great recipe for success. you all know about Blizzaks. the Firestone Winterforce has studded combos (available in some states) that fit the phonies and a few other rims like the Fuchs.... don't forget to throw a 100~150 lb bag of sand in the back trunk area (by far the best move). with the sand, i drove my 944 back in the early '90s like it was an Audi. the 968 is totally horrendous.
btw, want an even better recipe ?
four identical tires on two sets of front wheels.

yeah 195's really shouldn't be a problemo, you might be able to run smaller than that if you want, give tirerack or your local tire shop a call, those dudes actually love to talk tires.... its strange
