Default I need a Porsche 944

My wife is turning 30 in November and I have an idea for her birthday.

I'm wanting to recreate the end scene to 16 Candles.

To pull this off, I need a red Porsche 944.

Does anyone have one that I could rent for the day?

I'm located in Rowlett Texas, north east of downtown Dallas.

I should probably introduce myself.

My name is John, I am heavily steeped in the 3000GT/Stealth platform and have been for the last 13 years but have always had a love for Porsche, especially Flying Lizard's ALMS GT car.

Thanks!
-John

Just for fun, here is a decent picture of my car.

Here is a picture from the last time I was at Sebring in 2010. I used to go yearly but have missed the last 2 years.

That's a really cool idea. I wish I was closer so you could use mine but I'm sure one of the guys on here will be up for it. Good luck!

John,
You might get a better response, and certainly more visibility on the 944 turbo sub-forum:

https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...bo-s-forum-72/

Good luck!

Haha, what, the Vr-4 is just a 3,700 lbs land yacht.

She does turn pretty well.

But not by choice, without the AWD, AWS and extra power to pull her out she would just plow through most corners I'm sure. haha

iirc, the car in the movie was an Automatic... not easy finding one of those

(I know, I know, in the movie he say's its a manual and that's why Anthony Michael Hall gets to drive the Rolls instead, but if you watch the end of the movie, the reverse lights come on just before he pulls away with the red head... no doubt a result of moving the auto gear selector P-R-N-D-L )

From what I understand, they used two cars, an auto and a manual, to film the movie. The actor couldn't drive a stick so in his driving scenes they used an auto, but the stunt driver used a stick.

I must have seen a different movie, as I don't recall any "stunts" with the 944

That said, to the OP, it might be just as costly to buy one as to rent one. D'oh!

If mine were red and my other car wasn't in the body shop so that I didn't have to rely on it for daily transport I would help you out, neighbor. Great idea- hope you can find a correct looking one in time.
