Saratoga Top Has Weird "Slope"

Saratoga Top Has Weird "Slope"
I have an '86 944 Turbo with a Saratoga top. The problem I have with the top is it has an upward "slope" so when I close the top the left side sits flush (normal) and the right side slopes upward and remains open.
This is not only annoying because it makes an awful whistling wind noise but also can be troublesome when it rains! Any ideas on how to fix this? The top opens and closes just fine (no electrical problems that I can tell) but I've done some research and haven't seen anyone online with this odd sloping problem.

Thanks in advance.

Can you find anyone in your area with a standard sunroof, and swap it to check? It seems more likely that your metal sunroof opening has been bent, or has an obstruction than that you have a warped glass roof.

I have to admit that I looked at the glass very suspiciously while posting what I did above. Can you try laying the glass roof flat on a known flat surface? The more I look at it, the more I think it's the glass, not the roof, weird as that seems.

If you look at the third photo here: http://imgur.com/a/89wmK you can see there is no obstruction.
I'll take the roof off tonight and take a picture to assess it's level-ness tonight.

It could be that the gears and arms that operate the sunroof are not in the same positions. The one on the passenger side isn't fully retracting. I really doubt that the glass is warped.

Retract the arms as if you are going to remove the sunroof normally.
Don't disconnect the front, though. Push up on the back of the roof to raise it up and prop it open in the middle with a little box. Then use the switch as if to raise the roof a little. Now you can see if the lifter arms are aligned (ie extending the same amount).
And this is a good configuration to debug the system further as well.

Has the right side arm skipped a tooth or two on the gear? I remember way back when I had a street car, there was a stripped gear and I'd have to push up on one corner of the roof while it was closing to get it to close flat.

Yeah check that arm.
Are the saratoga panels actually glass or Plexiglass? I know glass flexes some but I don't think the lift arms would have enough *** to hold the glass up like that, nor would glass, glass flex that amount.

my guess is that you have broken some teeth of the plastic drive gear and it is not allowing full retraction on the passenger side. Cheap and easy fix. Best to replace both sides while you're at it.
