the interior of that car also has an updated water-cooled-911 style console, shift boot and ****...

and if you can believe it, even a cup holder.

can't understand why these killer upgrades never found their way into the production cars.


then again, the 928 dash was even more eregious back in those days.

getting an updated dash into production must have been an even higher priority....

Incredible capacity for a sports car. Bikes, tires, concrete, St. Bernards. All fit in the back of a 944.

pull the passenger seat back and you can easily stack 3 or 4 surfboards [fins up for Ruggles].


for you guys that live in the mid-west;

this is Ruggles, Newport, Rhode Island, August 27th, 2010 performing it's Bells Beach, Australia improv....


and also why i drive a hatchback....



ASP Tour pro Ian Walsh scores a near perfect ride [@ 2:04], followed up by

Guinness World Record holder Garrett McNamara on his stand up paddle board taking one for two hundred yards.....

o man, the list

951 was the first production car to have a ceramic port lined turbo

968 turbo rs was first porsche production turbo rs

924 carrera gtp was a 951 engine in 1982

the 951 was supposed to debut in 84 but the reemergance of the 911 put it off a couple years

the 911 gt1 944 specific parts(i'm taking a guess) were the intercoolers

porsche wasn't the first company to use a rear mounted transaxle, alfa romeo used it in the early 70's. however they had clutch issue(it was in the rear as well) porsche helped research the problem, and this is why the audi trans still has a bell housing but the clutch is up front

the 968 turbo s and rs cost more than a 911 turbo

american sales wen't down almost every year from 77-95, where as sales around the world went up

only 1 924 carrera gts had comfort features(finished interior, regular sport seats;not lollipop, full dashboard) on those cars, only 2 had dry sumps

PCGB came up with the 3 national 924 cgt-r race cars for 81

i've got more, but my books are upstairs. i'll put em up in a few.

Derek bell still owns his 924 carrera

there were more than 406 924 carrera's built, closer to 430

86 951 drag coefficient of .33 was the best of any production car in the world at the time

951 make 0-100mph in a little of 15 seconds...right under 80's supercar territory

a 924 was tested on the autobahn and achieved 42mpg...hmmm green sports car

due to the cheapness of an e30 bmw, porsche made the gas tank larger to better compete against e30's on the track

the s2 cabrio was supposed to come out in 87, but porsche held off to wait for the new s2 engine

924 gtp made "420hp" but most feel it was over 500. a hp/L was 250:1

924 gtp had dohc turbo, never made it to production as we all know

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the bell housing was there because Porsche used the trans-axle from the Audi Quattro?

Well, the 951 engine mentioned in 1982 isn't by any means a 951 engine. It is a custom 16V head, turbocharged. Edit: sorry, you mentioned that!

The cabrio first debuted in 1985. I think Bauer and ASC had the final bids - went to ASC in Germany due to price I believe. The Bauer car had some unique features - different brakelights and more of a boat-tail that the production car. And the late interior with airbags - unique for 1985 at least.

Porsche and I think Bauer toyed with a 924 Targa too (a real Targa). Used to have pictures of it.

May be the intercoolers too - although I really don't know. Almost certain on the two I'm thinking of (they look identical).
