Default The "Will it Fit?" Thread

I currently have 265/35/18's in the rear. I want to be able to fit the largest tire possible once I drop it down. What do you guys think? Can I go with a 285/30 or 295/30 on the 18x10 ET54? Guards will be rolled. I know it's possible to fit this on the early offset, but not sure about '87 and up without interference of the suspension. Any suggestions?

FWIW........

I also runs 265/35 R18s. I never tried running larger but am interested to see what you come up with. Before I ask my next question let me first say "to each his own" but why do you want to run larger tires than the 265/35s?

Looks mostly, but also when the boost kicks in I have broken the tires loose at 50 mph in 3rd, so I could use all the tire I can get. I have seen quite a few guys running the ET65 996 wheels on late offset cars with 295's and no issues. I am just wondering what the limits are like with ET54. I may keep the 265's if I decide to lower the rear a lot, as I don't think with a lowered car you can squeeze too much more with that offset. Just looking for some more opinions on it.

That offset will make it a bit tough to get a 285 under the fenders.

I run 285's on 18x10 et 65 on my 951 and 275's on a 17x9 et 47 on my S2.

I run 285's on 18x10 ET65 wheels and rub a little. 275 race tires on 17x9 ET55 wheels don't rub...

Looks like I may have to stick with the 265's if you guys are rubbing with that offset. How low are you in the rear?

S2 is slammed.

951 is just a hair under stock. The 295's I had on the 951 rubbed badly.

Put some weight into the back of the car to compress the suspension (have some friends sit back there or something). Once the tires are tucked under the fenders see what the gaps look like, you would need a little more than a half inch of clearance to make the 295s work. From wheels I have mounted in the past I don't think it would work.

For your traction issues, instead of adding width, maybe get some better tires? I don't know what tires you have on there now, but I can tell you I have more grip with my 225s than I did with my last set of 255s and it comes down to the tire choice.

I have Continental DW's on it, but I think they're pretty old. I am thinking about going with some semi's, but I haven't decided yet.

Ok, after much searching on Rennlist, I came up with this. He is running a similar RH 3.6 18x10 ET 52 in the rear with a 285/30/18. He also appears to have '87 spindles on it as it's an '86?

Here are some pics I pulled from the forum of the car. I like it, it looks like it may work, although I can't tell if this car has been lowered in the rear.
