Blaupunkt Reno Help
I recently bought a working Blaupunkt Reno, and I'm having an issue with it. When It's wired up, the display screen will light up, but it doesn't display anything. I cant get it to play the radio, or tapes. I have it wired per the FSM, and I even wired it to the batt., and nothing, no display, just the back light. Do the Renos have security codes? I googled all night, and couldn't come up with anything about the screen or codes. Any ideas? A few notes: When it was pulled from the sellers car, it was working. He sent me a pic, and I trust him. When I got the package from USPS it was crushed, so maybe something inside became loose. Let me know if anyone has any ideas, and as always, thanks for your time!!
Not my Reno, just a pic for reference.

I can't offer an answer but I had pretty much the same experience with a Reno that I sourced not long ago. It was working when removed from the donor car. Brought it to a local car stereo shop that deals with older Porsches for install. The backlighting came on but no sound or functions from the buttons. They made no mention of a security code and I'm pretty sure they would have known if that was the issue. They called their repair guy who used to work on these Blaupunkts all the time. Unfortunately he said most parts are NLA and wouldn't be able to fix. Fortunately for me the seller was a good guy and gave me a refund.
Mine was shipped and packed very securely. The box was unmarked when I received it.
Very frustrating as the unit I bought was in excellent physical condition and took a long time to find. Still looking...

Wow, exact same story....I'm thinking maybe a solder broke, or maybe a capacitor took a dump in transport. I'm going to have a buddy take it apart next week and see if he sees anything obvious, and maybe he can just re-solder. Is there a internal fuse? Its like it's in freak out mode? Maybe some kind of anti theft without a code, and you just have to reset it, or push some buttons. I don't know, wish I had a owners manual. Anyone else have any ideas?

I have been down this road with two used Renos. Mine powered up, but got no signal. I contacted SW Stereo Specialists in NJ. He said that he had been working with/replacing Renos since new, and they have a fatal, unfixable (!?) flaw. He convinced me to replace it with a Blau. Dearborn. It looks very similar and works fine, but it isn't OE.

Reno woes
Someone dropped a muffler on my Reno while shipping my car. It smashed the bezel, but seems to work except for the Clock and Eject.
I'm in the market for a parts radio, if anyone has one..
