Default overheating

have an overheating problem. thought the thermostat was stuck closed, so i changed it. (tested new one prior to installing) no difference. top hose is hot and bottom is cold.

any way to tell if water pump is dead or if its a blocked radiator?

thanks in advance.

This might be a stupid question - is it possible the thermostat was placed in backwards?

sounds like you have an air pocket in the system somewhere, have you bled the system since you put the thermostat in?
