Default Turn signal assembly

I have an 84 944NA and I am having trouble with my front turn signals maintaining bulb connectivity. The signals are part #477-953-043.

In looking at the PET it shows the housing as a single unit. Can the bulb sockets be replaced in these housings and if so, does anyone know a part #? I haven't pulled it yet to get a better look, because it's my DD.

Thanks,
Tim

You can pull your lenses off and clean the sockets and contacts. if you can get a small screwdriver to scrape the two flat terminals in the base then roll up a small section of scotchbrite to rub around in the grounding area (ID) of the socket. The bulb only grounda in one small area not the whole perimeter so very likely that is where you are losing contact. Get some Dielectric grease found in small packets at the Auto parts stores and coat the bulb Ground and two positive lugs on the bulb, and you should be good again.

You really can't replace just the sockets unless you get a set out of another housing then the leads need re wiring and you need to remove the reflector heat staking. I have a few of the housings if you want to replace them. $30 shipped for two.housings less lenses.

I think the terminals are part of the problem. They are not putting enough pressure on the bulb to hold it securely. I tried bending them forward with a small screwdriver, but the terminals are actually loose in the sockets.

Sent you a PM.

Thanks,
Tim
