Default Looking for Diamond Blue Metallic info

I'm looking for info about how Porsche painted these cars. I'm in an auto body repair program and figure that the 944 will be my project car to work on throughout the year.

I originally wanted to change the car to a pearl white, but I decided a repaint of the original color would be much easier. I'll spend a little bit of time repairing some minor dings and smoothing out the clearcoat issues. In the meantime I would like to start some Porsche paint research.

Someone told me they thought this paint was both a metallic and a pearl, any truth to that? My paint is in terrible shape so seeing what it's supposed to look like isn't all that easy.

It's an 87' only color. Go to Paintscratch.com and use the color they have. As far as I can tell, it's spot on.

Alright thanks guys. I'm actually hoping to mix my own paint and spray the whole car. I'll talk with my instructor and see what he recommends.

If all goes well this will be done in a few months and I can show it off here

According to the guy who painted my car, DBM is just a metallic. My car is now Zermatt Silver, which he said was a pearl - or at least the paint he used was.

pearl's are metallic, just instead of using silver chips they use multi-color(blue, red, yellow, ect.)

only white was offered on the 944 asa pearl, all others were flat or metallic.

pearl white was a factory color, something like less than 100 made with it though. btw: pearl white is a bitch to paint perfect
