951 Overheats with new radiator/oil cooler
I had a well known shop installed a aluminum radiator with oil cooler and now the car overheats. Temp outside was 90 degrees. The car only has one fan to make room for the radiator and it works. I only have the stock temp gauge and it was on the 3/4 mark and most of the time highway and traffic. I added more coolant stuff check for leaks and blockage but its clean.
Where is the best place to install a temp gauge?

you want the temp of the engine so the stock spot on the cylinder head is good. I replaced my thermostat and fan temp switch and it now runs cooler than before since the thermostat opens and fans turn on at 75 degrees C

I tried to re-vent the system, by opening the vent hole for a few minutes with the engine running and the heater on, not sure if it helped. Tomorrow I'll get underneath and probably drain the system and test the thermostat. The car has a new engine from Lynsey and a aluminum radiator from Autosport Florida. The aluminum radiator is cool to the touch even when the fan is running? What is the normal operating temperature on this cars? I'll get a temp reader to see how hot is the block and the intake.
thanks

Yeah, the car was fine with the old radiator but I modified the engine and upgraded the turbo and intercooler, so the next obvious next thing to me was the radiator. I'll bring the thermostat down tomorrow and do the pot test. The car sat for 4 months after radiator replacement, hopefully is just one cheap gremlin.

Any update on this?
I have a similar problem on my car. Chris White motor and we've been tinkering with it for a long time now. He has an interesting theory that perhaps the radiator is working too well. The temperature of the coolant returning to the motor from the radiator may be so cool that it's keeping the thermostat closed.
