Default Engine Paint Prep

Hey Rennlist, I have another question. How do you guys prep engine parts for paint? Ive been looking thru threads and havent found anything really definite on prep to guide a newbie with. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated too!

Thanks,
Edtay

what exactly are you painting? DO NOT PAINT the block , head, or oil pan. You want those clean clean clean and bare as possible. some wd40 and 800-1000 grit sand paper with some elbow grease will make it nice and shiney.. Ps , all my parts were powder coated by a rennlister

Haha well the oil pan isnt getting painted then. Cam box, Cam sprocket cover, Intake and Exhaust headers are the parts I want to paint. Id like to powder coat but it doesnt seem like a feasible option for me at the moment

powder coat all mentioned except the exhaust system, and have exhaust coated with a high temp coating or ceramic paint, all of which need to be baked and cured, contact Van for your powdercoating, He did mine at an amazing price . Since I assume your car is not a turbo, then just have the headers and a short section of the collectors to the CAT coated. Unless you want to spend the extra money to have it coated to the muffler.
