Thanks, Man!

It was actually built in 1906 - 6 years before Arizona was a state. Territorial days, real live old west history. I am about 3 miles from downtown, and right next to the first high school in Tucson.

Yes, it truly is love. I doubt there is a car anywhere that could top this 951 for me. I really feel strongly. It is my therapy, and my pride. I even love to wash it, and change bearings. All of it is fun to me!

Thanks, all of you. It is so good to be in company that understands.

Nice write up, indeed. I can relate. I've owned many Porsches and the 944 has been one of my favorites (the other is a 914) even over every era of 911 up to the 996.

Your new Mustang thoughts are appreciated.
I had forgotten to hit the sarcasm button in my first post..
I too always double-take when I see a fellow 944/951/924/931.
Cheers!

I hate them, and they are everywhere. Can't go get a Coke without seeing 5 of those pathetic things. When's the last time you saw a 944 in the wild?

Jeff

Have you driven a newer Mustang? Since '05, they are in a different league from before. The chassis is actually quite good now. I drove my neighbor's '12 GT500 and it is really planted, not to mention great power.

Anyway, nice looking 951, welcome to rennlist!

I don't know.

having owned 83 SC, 86 951, 99 986, and 03 986, the boxster is by far far far the best handling.

The 911 had something about it that I really liked. Just couldn't stand the air-leak targa, terrible a/c, and the annoying electrical issues I tended to get.

the 951 is fast, love the turbo

My intent was never to compare and contrast Porsches (or anything) with 944 or 951s, but just to convey what they mean to me. I included comments about my prior cars just to provide a context. A 19 year old having a 951 as his second car os not who I am

As for Boxters, I think they are ugly and associate them with the straw golf hat and wine & cheese Roxlex crowd, fair or unfair as that may be. Good handling or otherwise.

My dream car is an '88 930, FWIW. My 911/912 had the classic feel. But I like my 951 just fine...my Euro hotrod that was my High School dream.

I'll disagree with you on the Ferraris and the Hawaiian hose, provided it isnt a doublewide by a landfil!

Default poor blighters = (bugwagon drivers).....

,

a 944T tuned to 300 hp (no more please) w/ proper tires vs one of those '80s 911s isn't a fair fight.

Very true...even more perspective. I do NOT like trailing throttle oversteer, had more than a couple close calls in my 911 due to it. 944 = much more even everything under strain...

How about a 17 year old having a 944 as his first car?

Awesome write up. Let me know next time you head into the valley!! Surprisingly I've never seen a 944 turbo in person before, it'd be cool to meet up!
