Default Gauge issues; possible ground problem?

While changing my turbo my brother took the power off the alternator prior to the battery being disconnected. It arced pretty good. Upon starting the car up the gauges began acting sporadic. Only the speedometer was left unaffected. Rpm's will rapidly jump up and down, coolant reads at the highest temp, oil pressure is all over the place, from two bar to five bar, and the voltage reads from 11-13. Tested the battery, and replaced the alternator thinking the diodes may have been the issue. No results came of this. Any input is appreciated. Thanks,

Also the engine acts like its going to cut out but never does. However, you can feel the car surge at these times. Additionally, the spark plugs and wires are brand new quality parts Cleaned the grounds in the LH fender. Took the grounds off under the cluster, they looked great. Applied diaelectric grease to both.

What voltage is the alternator putting out? If you are seeing a fluctuating 11-13v at the guage, what are you seeing at the battery with the car running?

If you see 11-13v there then you still have an alternator issue, probably the regulator. If you see a steady voltage around 14-15v then start checking voltages at the battery side of the fuses. If there is a ground problem you will see it at the fuse as a fluctuating voltage. Once you find the problem circuit then trace the ground and fix it.

Check the Ground at the back of the engine Bellhousing, Also check the ground wires at the Chassis side, in the Battery box.
