Default Replacing control arm bushes

I'm just about to replace control arm bushes - just the front ones for now, where the control arm joins the cross-member.

I have new bushes from Powerflex, but they don't seem to fit, and I'm wondering whether I also need to remove the metal sleeve that's still in the control arm. Looks like some cutting and banging would be needed to get it out, and I'm also wondering if the harder metal is supposed to protect the softer control arm allow in some way.

Has anyone done this?

(Attached pic shows the control arm with the old bushes removed, metal sleeve in situ.)

Not familiar with Powerflex, but when I installed my Weltmeisters I had to remove the metal bushings.
