If you were to keep a radio, delete it from the console and hide it in the glovebox. Was also thinking of doing that to my track car build.
I was thinking of moving the radio to the glovebox. I really love the center console delete look. I've just been too lazy to get in and do it.

I'm curious to see how you and 944meister like the rhinoliner-like interior "insulation". And to see how much it would weigh compared to carpet with sound deadening.

I think you could install a radio or iPod mount where the clock /cig lighter are. Delete those and the console all at once.

Or...

Move the climate control unit over there and more the iPod/radio set up straight up.

Yes I on a 90 %track car. Used tintable Armour Liner used gray tent with a spot of black. Untill you get right on it its hard to tell its not carpet. 1/3 the weight of the carpet and pad.

Quite a bit, had it blasted with dry ice to remove it. Sorta like soda blasting, but uses dry ice / mist. Normally used for removing mold from wood. Portable guy charged me $250, worth every penny. I am told soda blasting does a fine job too but can not confirm it.

Oh yeah the 1/3 the weight was with the cans the liner and activator came in with no account for material lost due to over spray and so on. In reality i would say it is 1/4 the weight with almost the same sound deading. Floors are a lot less tinny sounding over nothing.

I've gone with the Appbiz carpet set, deleted all the padding, and added some light coreflute panels under the carpet in the seating area to stop the carpet wearing too much.

I cut off the lower part of the door panel, and replaced that with a coreflute doorcard wrapped in microsuede. Out of weakness I kept the stereo and front speakers.

Pulled the vinyl off all the interior trim and recovered with the same microsuede..

Clear corner signals / side markers, no side strips. The aim is to clean the look of the car up.

Also deleted the power aerial, rear wiper, hatch motor...

I've just added a nice white-text 924 gauge cluster.

Now I'm thinking I might delete the centre console (I carpeted underneath it) and replace the lower doorcards with thin CF sheet, delete the speakers and stereo.

If I can get manual sunroof latches, then I'll get rid of the sunroof motor etc. That would free me from having to find a place for the sunroof switch on the console.

If I could find good manual mirrors that would cover the flag mirror mounting holes, then I'd do that too - then I could delete the window switches and upper door panel trim.

Wishlist

Exterior

Brake cooling ducts

Remove underseal & repaint with POR15 - add thin flat plywood undersurface in mid-section with aluminium section over exhaust. (paint black)

Cut spare tire well and add simple flat rear diffuser

Rauh-Welt style front splitter / airdam.

Arch flares with late running gear / current early offset tires.

Flush-mount doorhandles from Volvo v70.

Aero wipers - possibly single wiper.

924 GTS headlights / front bumper?

Carbon front fenders, bonnet, header panel.

Interior

Flat centre console plate, more gauges, starter button.

I've also got a bondo'd dash plug to turn into a mould - carbon early dash?

What do people think about speedway / bomber style aluminium seats?

Engine / Performance

The ultimate outlaw would be carbs - I think ITB's are more my idea of progress.

Light-weight, responsive NA engine - although I'm still tempted by supercharging using an SC14. Anything lag-free.

Black and gold themed de-cluttered engine bay using a lot of wrinkle black paint.

Generally delete anything possible - no brake booster, AOS, possibly no balance shafts?

Lowering will be coilovers, but I've still not found the right solution in this area (The car is already lower than the pics - via eccentrics, and a slight trim on the front springs)

Darn it all guys now you got me going! I pulled all the carpeting out of the back of the car..MAN is it heavy! Will weigh it tonight. I will replace with lightweight carpet. Not too worried about sound deadening...its a convertable after all! Removed the power hatch/trunk release. It didn't work anymore, and the switch was removed long ago when the car was reinforced for the convertable. (firewall/rocker areas) I'm also doing this work, as the carpet was in poor shape anyways, as the snaps were missing (to cover the rear tail light area) 20lbs is 20lbs if you can remove it. Decklid is already fibreglass, so is already WAY lighter than a stock hatch.
This thread may end up turning into a weight deletion thread.....
