Daily driver 600 miles a week for 2 years. About 26-27 highway but would be better with stock wheels.

Sooner or later it wil l let me down but not yet.

The car I started out with last time was in terrible shape. It should have been considered about a $1000 car or perhaps a parts car. It ran, drove and stopped, but only just. Needed the timing belt service, PS pump leaked like crazy, had rust issues, bad wheel bearings, the leaking sunroof destoyed the back panels and headliner, the tires were totally bald and weatherchecked, and more. Because I was totally intimidated by the car and uninformed, i was afraid to work on it. This is not the case now.

Thanks for the votes of confidence on the fact that the cars can be daily driven still, and for the lists of parts that were being put on. I was also looking at perhaps an earlier 924 with the older generation 2.0 engine, there are a bunch of them around as well but a little too far to drive to see them for the "heck of it."

What are a few of the things that are the most expensive to replace that I should assure are done before I try and pick up a budget minded car? Keep in mind, that unless it involves a full rebuild of the engine or trans, I can probably do it myself so its just parts and my personal time to do it.

For a DD candidate, I'd stick to the 85.5+ cars, simply because the A/C is an easier system to work with.
