Question Speedo repair

Ok, my speedometer quit working a few weeks ago on my 92 968. I finally got around to pulling the instrument cluster yesterday and this is what I found.

a small resistor on the back side of the circuit board is SMOKED. That exceeds my ability to fix it, so any suggestions on where to send it to get it fixed?

Thanks

I sent my cluster to North Hollywood Speedometer in Palo Alto, Ca.

They advertise in Panorama and provided excellent (although slightly expensive) service.

They are pro's and I'd use them again.

PS - what I did was to get a replacement cluster from a parts dealer and have it customized and reconditioned. It might be cheaper to do that then have them fix the old one !

If I were just doing white faces, I'd probably try myself.

What I needed was a replacement cluster (old one had multiple issues) set to the proper (and very high) mileage...and reconditioned. While there I had them do white-faces and blue LED...much like VW's from the early 2000's...which matches my Sony headunit and XM unit lighting.

They also re-calibrated my engine temp gauge to show temp instead of just H and C....new luminecent needles....etc.

Total was about $700 plus the part which I got from 20th Street Auto in Az....they are a dismantler who at the time were sponsors here. That was $130 shipped to NHS in Ca.

That is sick, that is exactly what I would like to do.
I will have to call NHS tomorrow and see what it will run.
