If you just bought a spare 944 engine to swap into a car, while you rebuild the car's own engine, what kind of work would you do to the new engine before putting it in?
All I've done is replace the RMS and pilot bearing, thermostat, and cut a slot in the speed/ref sensor holes in the bellhousing. I also bought a new heater control valve and all the heater hoses, and I'll put them on before the engine goes in.
I am contemplating doing the oil cooler gaskets and AOS seals. Worth it? I'll probably only use this engine for a few months. Anything else I should do? BTW the engine is really dry and clean.

Oil cooler and aos seals are cheap so yeah do those but don't spend money on it if it's only for a few months,it's pointless.
Before you take it out drive the crap out of it.....

PS... I'm not a big fan of the slotted bellhousing, it s a little bit hackish to me and besides I always separate at the TT/bellhousing anyway. Now if you could completely eliminate the sensors, I'm in.

The bellhousing slot is to allow future removal of the bellhousing without having to remove the speed and reference sensors first.
To make a long story short, the car is a 944 turbo and I'm rebuilding the engine, and I wanted to be able to drive the car in the mean time so I bought a 944 NA engine locally at a good price. After the turbo engine goes back in, this NA engine will be my backup/spare.
