Default 944 Cruise Control malfunction

My '87 944 factory cruise control goes into Accelerate mode as soon as it is activated - cannot be set to hold any speed. Anyone else have this issue, or know which part of the system is likely to be faulty? I'm a new 944 owner, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

sounds like the computer for it. If it is a late it is up under the dash by your left knee, If you have an early it is above the hump behind the radio.

Read what clarks-garage.com has to say about malfunctioning cruise control units.

Reflow the solder on the pc board. Do every piece of solder if you cannot see an obvious break. Be careful to not slop two solder points together.

What lizard said, bust out the Iron and get busy. It will probably fix it, it did for my car.
