Question Strange RPM

Hey fellas some of you know me, most don't. I've been a PCA member for about two years and on here for a few months less. Any ways I recently acquired a 951 and it has some upgrades (currently waiting on the documentation of the build) so this may not be able to be answered til I have all that.

Any ways I'll start it up and the rpm's are under 2k idling what seems to me in a fine range. Then after 30 seconds or so the rpm's jump to 2.5k to 3.5k and it sounds like I'm accelerating. The car is in neutral and e-brake/parking brake is still up. Why the heck does it jump so high!?!? Also it sounds like something is spinning very fast (fly wheel maybe) I know the clutch is a 930 and has a lightened fly-wheel.

Any light in this matter will help greatly, as I am in darkness and currently seeking light

Please close this thread, I have found what seems to be my problem the TPS does in fact show similar if not the same symptoms. Thanks a lot Plaight! I really appreciate it, I'll search better next time before a post.

No problem, I had the same problem on mine when I first bought it. Probably the first and last easy fix I've had

oh geez that isn't good. Well I had a b5 s4 audi for a while and that was a great solid daily. I had a $9 sensor go bad so 20 minutes and $9 later it was a champ again. They are "really unreliable" or so they say...I just hope I get lucky with this one too.
