New 951 owner here... introducing myself!
Just purchased my first Porsche yesterday -- It's NormD's former '87 944 Turbo.
Guru Chip, Tial 38mm Wastegate, manual boost controller, and some others.
It is a fine example so I'm hoping to get in there in the next few weekends -- I have a lot to learn.
It's leaking some oil on the exhaust near the front of the motor and I am told this is the Oil Filter Housing Gasket, which I hope to do/get done by next week.
And also before I wanted to take it out for a drive today I tried to check the oil level, I ended up pulling out the entire dipstick tube from the block (doh!) since it wasn't bolted in. It was too dark to find where it belongs so I will return to this tomorrow.
And of course... Pics or it doesn't count (Norms pics--I don't have any good ones yet)...

welcome
be sure to head to the 944 turbo/turbo s technical forum Here for technicall questions/modifications ect. make sure you search first because most of your questions will be answered.
don't be scared to revive an old thread.
YOU will get flamed if you start a thread that has already been answered.
goodluck!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I can see that Clarks is going to be my best friend. I hope to limp it home today (or AAA) and start working on it. Looks like I will need a special tool for the Oil Filter Housing Gasket and everything should be good.

if you're doing a service and need to remove the oil filter. try removing it with your hand first. i'm sure it's not on that tight.
