Wow what a mess, looks like someone fitted some 10.6cr Euro pistons in there the wrong way causing the valves to make their own valve cut-outs in the pistons. That thing never ran correct? It bent the valves as soon as the engine was turned and yes that is why ALL your valves are bent. Like I said on a normal cam-belt failure you don't get damage like that.

And driven maby 3-4 years with Megasquirt on a daily car (from minus 25 celsius to + 30).

This is temporarly because i need the car running, and not to swap for a s2 because that was the idea. It was the engine i got hold of.. thats why.

Apparently no one can tell me if the sensors or triggering system would fit. I guess i would have to find it out myself.
And no one seems to know the original spark advance on eighter of the engines.

Btw. i HAVE both the harness and the clutch. i miss ecu's and air flow meter. And would the rev counter work?
I may have spark info at home. Give me a day or so.

I will be interested to see where this goes. I would like to swap a 3.0 in my 924s someday.

Thanks alot thirdgenbird!

MAGK: I actually live in Europe (Norway), so the car is supposed to have a cr of 10,6:1
The S2 by the way has 10,9:1. Not that big a difference. And as i said, i can run the car on 98 and 99 octane fuel, to minimize the risk of detonation

As far as i know, the car has at least been running with these pistons the last 11 years.

For the record. This anyway is a TEMPORARY solution (if possible).
Later on i will use either a Haltec or MS3 system.

I see so they are the stock pistons. Still someone rebuilt that engine and fitted the pistons the wrong way. I cannot see how they would not have valve contact the moment it was turned and that seems what has happened. I presume you never saw it running.

Anyway, GL with the S2 swap, listen to the guys on here, lots of experience.

Btw: this is what those pistons should look like (far right):

Of course i saw it running. I bought the car and used it for a couple of weeks before it stopped. And a friend of mine know the guy who had it from 2001-2012 and have driven the car on several occations over the years.

I got the engine in its place on tuesday. But the last days i've been working late and haven't got any time for the car. I'll se tomorrow or in the weekend what happens then.

Need to work out the fuel line, throttle wire, exhaust and a brake line.
I also got a set of GAZ gold coilovers now, with camber plates.

An update here. The engine is in the car, running and pretty damn fast! Drifting on dry asfalt in 3rd gear is no problem

Can you provide information on what it took to get it running?

Trigger wheel (and sensors with bracket) and air flow meter from the old car. Some fix on the fuel lines for the fuel rail, a slight change on one of the brake lines, a small fix with the throttle wire, cut of the flanges for the downpipe and weld them maby 10-15 degrees the other way. Other then that i dont remember right now. All other sensors and injectors are S2 parts.

The car is working, and fine. It's less than 6 sec on 0-60 mph (i cant messure exactly when alone in the car) with nice gearchange and no dumping of the clutch in 1st gear. IAC is not connected so i locked the throttle slightley open to have about 1000-1100 rpm idle on hot engine. I still have to sort out how to use a air filter, but would need some new hoses.

As i have said earlier; this is temporarly. But the car of course works. Just as I said it would!
Later i would order a stand alone ecu, but for now i can use it as is.

I recently installed a 944 S2 engine in my 924S which I use for track days. GREAT FUN. I now plan to fit Fuchs with 944 S2 hubs and brakes and later spec GAZ suspension.
Anyone done this ?

Ronny where did you buy your GAZ from ?

What? You want to buy them?

I bought them from www.gazcoilovers.com But they dont fit mine. I got the set for the 944 type 2. And i have a 1982 944 type 1. GAZ Gold, with camberplates. Cost 1000 pound pluss taxes and shipping.
