Default 944 basics question

I am in the market for a 944 again. Any model, but the main thing is it has to have a factory LSD.

Most of the cars I call on, the owners don't know if there car has an LSD or know what an LSD is...

So, just as a reminder(for when I check myself...When the car is lifted in the air and you turn one wheel forward, which way is the opposite side wheel supposed to turn on an LSD car. I completely forget. Is it supposed to turn the opposite direction? I should know this, but I just don't remember.

Also, Is there a specific year/model 944 that absolutely does not have a factory LSD?

I have been told so many things by 944 owners I call. I have owned an 84 NT with LSD and an 86 turbo without.

thanks

With an LSD it should turn in the same direction

Might be easier to just ask them for their option codes and see if it has an LSD that way

True. Maybe Ill do that. Some of the owners I have been running into have been difficult to get any technical info out of.

the sticker in the owner's manual or the trunk spare tire well will show code 220.

are you autocrossing or drifting or something? an NA car in most situations really doesn't make enough power to spin the inside tire...

I want one for the street, but I would like to try out Road Atlanta. But, I just mainly remember how much more fun my LSD NT was over the nonLSD turbo I had just because of the LSD driving characteristics.

Would driving an lsd car really have a different "experience"?? Chances are you had more fun cause early cars are generally more fun

Every once in a while I see an LSD unit for sale on ebay. Don't know if one size fits all.

Yes, one size fits all when it comes to LSDs... but, remember that the gearing between a NA and turbo are different. They'll fit, but performance will be different.

Personally, I wouldn't make an LSD a required criteria. I'd focus on 85.5+ for the updated interior, or maybe even 87+ for the updated offset.

I think a good service/maintenance history is much more important than an LSD.
