951 RPMs drop with throttle application
Just finished a timing/balance belt change, and although the car starts fine it stumbles and the RPMs dip whenever I try to rev above idle.
I do have the low fuel light on but aside from running out of gas, what could cause this to happen? I'm about to leave for the gas station to get some more fuel, so I can try to eliminate this first but I'm really paranoid about valve-piston contact since this was my first time changing the belts.

could you have accidently pulled a vacuum line and not put it back? or did you make sure you reconnected the intake sensor? My 951 did something similar and it was just me forgetting to plug this guy in...

I finally got it, turns out I indeed was running out of gas. The battery ran flat, so I had to push the car out of the garage into my steeply sloped driveway to jump start it. Turns out it was just too low - car runs great now that I filled it up.
Thanks rennlist, without you guys I couldn't have done this TB job, I almost didn't need to make a thread!
