Default Clean off Foam Padding

My foam padding underneath the hood keeps flaking off. I just want it to be all gone. What is the best way to remove this padding? I will most likely replace it with something else. It just looks horrible and makes me nervous it might catch on fire.

I think acetone or cab cleaner will disolve it. Put some on a rag to check. If it does, cover the engine with plastic painters wrap and put it in a spray bottle or ketchup/mustard squirter and shoot it up in there. follow with finger or large screwdriver on a rag.

Plastic scapers, 3m adhesive remover in the spay can or 3m general purpose adhesive cleaner #08984, plastic to cover engine, and a few hours of your time will get it off.

Used the same...plastic scraper is much better than a screwdriver to prevent scratches. I also had good luck with WD40. Cover the engine area as everything will drop drip or fall in there.

Dave over at 944 foot to the floor wrote a fantastic guide to installing new sound material. I think it looks fantastic with some of Van's decals.

He also has a great guide for how to remove it:

My apologies. I thought you were referring to the foam I found in the slots in my hood and not the hood liner. Disregard my inputs.
