Default looking at 944 8v

so an 87 just fell into my lap at 1700 bucks. runs and drives great. t-belt, fluid, suspension great(less than 1yr). brakes are good. i think he said it has m030 on it.

it's burgendy over tan/black with sport seats, phone dials.

sunroof won't open all the way(thinking slipping gears, or missing teeth). rear wiper doesn't work. i'm not truely concerned with either as they're not vital to the car.

i'm having it brought to my shop next saturday to put on a lift. what should i look at? i'm double checking everything he says is ok

I would be more concerned with good documentation, rather than how things like the timing belt look.
You already have a 87 I assume by youe user name. Is this a second?

Check the clutch...as you know it's expensive to change.

eyeball all the bushings and rubber parts...

Check for leaks....power steering rack, oil pan, etc.

this would be my 2nd 8v, the first one lay in my driveway after an engine fire. getting rid of that next week.

clutch really wouldn't be too bad for me, i do work on cars for a living, and i have a secondary car that serves as daily duty now.

i will ask for paperwork regarding what he's done, and when.

does anyone have an idea where i can get a ps rack? he said it's got a small leak, i'm hoping a loose hose, or hose with small hole, but you never know.

Double check the CV axle screws!!! I sheared mine the day after I bought my 924.
Otherwise, electronics and pumps... Make sure every button and light functions properly, and see what the oil and coolant look like. If they are dirty or low, this should give you an idea of how well it's been maintained. Pretty basic stuff but just my .02 worth.

Purchasing a 944 information:

Also check the rubber fuel lines, the fuel rail and fuel injectors for leaks. Do not need an other engine fire.

For that price it sounds good...Do a running list of things you will have to fix...fuel lines ps leaks anything else that pops up...check under the battery for holes (my extra winter project...battery cover purchased for $10 from the dealer) any other leaks...When you get the total add a couple thousand just in case...if it is still in your budget go for it.

If you can do some or all of the repairs that will cut any repair costs down quite a bit.
