Are these brake components mismatched?

Last Fall I put my car up and replaced all the brake lines with SS braided, just a preventative maintenance thing. Used a Motive bleeder "extensively" to flush and bleed the system. This all took a couple of weeks. At the end, I got in it and it felt like the brakes were mushy, more travel than I expected. But they worked fine, great in fact. I've come to accept that while the car was being worked on, I simply "forgot" what they were like before, and in the meantime had been driving two very different cars. I don't think anything is wrong with my car, I've put 5k miles on it since, including some very panicky stops. But they aren't the kind of brakes that are rock solid as soon as I put my foot on it. They are nice and progressive. Do your brakes work all right?

Hi Ross. Yeah they work. But the travel distance of the pedal to the stopping point is all of 95mm. I had not mentioned it before but the clutch is pretty funky right now too. I have the pedal set according to the tech spec in the factory manual BUT the shaft of the clutch slave cylinder does not retract into the body of the slave cylinder. it's travel distance is long enough i.e., 15 to 18 mm but we have another 1987 944 and a 1987 951 in the family and the clutch of the rebuilt 944 does not compare to the tightness of the other two.

Yeah, that ain't right. My guess would be there is air hiding somewhere. When I was having trouble getting mine bled, I searched on here and a lot of people said to just let it sit, work the pedal every so often. In the end, that seemed to be the case. Parking on steep inclines, or jacking up one end then the other, just in the course of bleeding, seemed to help a lot too.

Did you put new pads on old rotors? It will take a while for the pads to conform to the rotor shape and you'll have a soft pedal until then. You rebuilt the calipers but did not mention the rest...
