just bought a 86 944 2.5l, and when I got it, it wasn't starting, due to a bad ignition switch. I replaced it, and started it and it revs all the way up (and won't stop 'til rev limiter) unless I'm pressing on the brakes. I can have the car running all day as long as Im pressing the brakes
I took the thrttle body apart, and cleaned the throttle body position sensor with some Electronics part cleaner. I also cleaned off the MAF (I think it's the MAF thats right outside of the air box). I started it up with the same results.
I have figured out that the selenoid that controls the throttle keeps pegging all the way up when the car is on...
The picture are posted. The second one is position it pegs to. (Which is full throttle)

Its easy. All you need to do is remove the cruise control motor from the engine bay, remove the computer from under the dash on the drivers side (its a small silver box held on by 2 bolts) and disconnect the cable from the throttle and the gas pedal and pull it out of the car.
