NA's had plastic belly pans? None of mine have them, never seen one in ten years of ownership. Any purpose to them apart from catching oil/ps fluid and making things even more difficult to get to?

I was reading on Clarks that most of them break from bottoming out or that they were just removed due to hindering maintenance

I've just never heard it called a belly pan, my bad. I know everything about 944's, especially after reading my 924/44 biography book

Yes other purpose are #1 Lowers drag coefficient #2 Sucks hot air out of engine compartement thus helping the car to run cooler #3 Keep debris out of engine compartement & protect your engine underside.

What no ground effects lol.

But really:
1. Lowers drag - not convinced it would matter that much on an na.
2. Sucks hot air out - seems like it would have a better chance of sucking cold air in without it. Hot air rises from the engine bay so why would you want to drag it back down.
3. Debris and protect - there are big holes in it and it's made of plastic.

I imagine that drivel was all marketing stuff from the sales brochure.

Up to you to think whatever you want, just wondering why so much peoples are running belly pans if they are useless.Btw those reasons were not taken from sale brochure but from different 944 owners on different forums who were disgusing the pro & con of belly pans, and something else nagging at me, why would Porsche spend the extra money on them which will up the production cost if they serve no purpose.

I'm sure_ hocheyhead 019_as a near future 944 owner don't mind us having this healhty belly pans debate, since he seem eager to learn everything there is to know about 944s.That being said your 88-924S will need the aluminum belly pan as seen in the first pic (same as the early 944).

If it's made correctly it could help airflow under the car, and if it has gaps at the right points it could create a suction type of air flow, pulling the air out of the compartment... so I'll buy those two, in terms of keeping it safe, I mean if you're driving on a rock road it'd help but idk about much more than that (he says like he's owned a 944 for years lol)

Ernie you already hit it on the head haha... no worries about jacking the thread guys feel free to chat about whatever, I already got my answer of how much the parts worth haha I'll just put it down as around 300 for the lot

sucessfully repremanded and re-hijacked, really op should be thanking us for bumping, the thread sort of colapsed at post 13 with no 944 and no actual parts for sale.

Point taken, I'll have to buy one and try it out at the track. If my top speed increases due to reduced drag and my engine temps decrease due to reduced heat i'll report back.
