spare tire "hole"

my spare tire hole has a hole (carnage from blown tranny)....thinking of just cutting it out and covering it up has anyone else done this.(removed the spare tire hole)????

Lots of people do, for race cars. I'm not knowledgeable in that field though, sure somebody else can explain.

Removing the wheel well is of interest to me to - looking at it, it doesn't seem good for airflow at the rear of the car. Much easier to fit underbody aero at the rear without it. My car is a street car, however, and I think it would not pass the warrant of fitness test here in NZ. That being said - it could be pretty well hidden - carpet on one side, underseal on the other.

i have not done this yet but it is on my list
what i can tell you is there is a gas tank strap on the back side of it so you have to make sure not to cut that out
