Question clutch wear/thickness info

I have an 87 944 NA and I have a Sachs clutch with the disc thickness measurement at right at 5/16 " with a tape (converts to .3125 or nearly 8 mm). I've tried to research this on several websites and can't find info that I can depend on. The clutch disc is in good shape, with the rivets recessed about 1/16" but I need to know what the new disc thickness is and what the wear limit is before I install this disc in my car. I don't drive it hard and am curious what kind of service (mileage) I might expect if this disc is even within wear limits. This is one time I wish I had a caliper for accuracy.

Sounds like it's almost new. I think the new plate is 8.1mm +/- 0.3mm.

I would measure it with a micrometer or a dial caliper, not a tape measure.

I bought the clutch kit (used) on ebay and it looks in great shape but I just read so many conflicting references on new vs wear limits and can't get a straight answer. I'll have to check with my neighbor. He's got all kinds of tools and probably a micrometer.

From the FWSM

For a stock clutch disk
Drive plate thickness: 8.1mm ±0.3mm
Wear limit: 6.3mm

Due to the drive train part geometries not changing with an aftermarket clutch disk, I would expect any direct replacement clutch disk to maintain very similar new and wear limit dimensions.

Thanks, 46&2. I just didn't have a FWSM laying around
