Default Two Horns? What devilry is this!

I was under my car, checking on my control arm replacement, when I spotted and removed this:

Two things surprised me about this. That I had never noticed it before and that these cars have TWO horns.

I had no idea.

Anyway, this horn was closest to the bottom of the car. The other horn is tucked up higher. That one still works.

Is this the low-tone horn or the high-tone horn? Car is 1986 NA. I'd guess it is the low-tone (310hz?) but if anyone knows for sure...

The Harbor Freight air horns are actually not terrible. Back when I had a beat up 1970's Italian convertible the one thing I made sure was operating properly were the air horns. Half the intermediate shaft was rolling around in the oil pan but I had air horns like a Testarossa.

I had air horns on my Datsun 240Z and when I had to use them, the affects were substantial. I'm thinking about getting a set for my 87 to replace the weak a-- moan.

"cute" sounds ideal for our lil sports cars

BUT I've toyed with the idea of installing a train horn (make people poop themselves when I scare them with it) or getting one of those speakers with all kinds of horn sounds

Probably a surprise to everyone here, but up-armored HUMVEES - a 5-ton vehicle with a Browning .50 mounted on top - has a little 'meep-meep' horn. When I was in Iraq, my driver was concerned about clearing the locals as we were roaring into traffic circles at speeds in the 40-60 mph range. Someone told him, "Hit the horn, they'll move." So, we'd be hammering through Baghdad with a convoy behind us and him pressing the horn with his thumb, "Meep-meep. Meep-meep. Meep-meep."

They moved!

If you are going to replace your horns, you might as well go for the best.
