Default Rear wiper shoots off left side of hatch?

My rear wiper motion goes off the left side of my hatch glass and gets stuck (9 o'clock)...it should return to 12 o'clock. Can this be adjusted? I have a delete plug but would rather not use it.

Mine has been all sorts of messed up lately. It would start at 12 o'clock and sweep to the left off the hatch. I was upset with it one day and pulled it up and down to the bottom (3 o'clock). It swept normal and then stopped in the middle of the hatch. At that point I gave up on it and moved it back to 9 o'clock. Now it works normally, my guess is that something was causing it to stick in the wrong position before. Might not work the same for you, but it seemed to clear itself up for me.

Default check lock nut

Are you sure your locknut is tight on the splines. Pivot the cover off pivot at base of the wiper arm and check the locknut. The spline may be stripped or attachment just loose.

This

If the nut isn't tight it will go all kinds of weird places.

x3. That little nut can be a pain. As the wiper gets used more and more over the years its common for the spline to strip altogether. In that case I would just use the delete plug.

Let us know what you find before you choose the delete - I have a down and dirty fix for the spline. Based on some similar loss of grab/grip issues with connections like this...

Well Heck, I'll throw it at you if its a spline issue:

Get some sheetrock sanding mesh ( it won't rust) . It looks like a tight meshed screen with abrasives attached. It comes in 4"x8" or so sheets at HW stores Walmart etc. . Cut a small disk abt 5/8 Dia or 3/4 and put a 1/4 hole or x cut on center.
Remove your wiper lock nut and arm drop your new grip washer on the shaft/spline re-install arm and tighten it in "home" position. You may want to cycle it and turn off first to make sure its really home - (9 o'clock or somewhere near there). Then install and tighten it down . Its not pretty ( it's also unseen) or high tech but all you want it grip. Unless you have some internal issues it may get you back in shape.
