Like many of you, I worked for years in my regular garage on jackstands, shuffling cars and bikes and gear in and out.
This is a shot of it actually reasonably clean and organized (not typical).

A couple of years ago I upgraded the workspace to make life in the garage easier.
Big honking air compressor, lots of workbench space, lots of lighting, toolboxes, a MaxJax lift, and very important, a built in beer fridge.

Other than the beer cooler, the most valued piece in the garage is the MaxJax. It makes pulling motors (in and out twice for the racecar in the past 3 weeks) so much more nicer.

Here's mine in my old garage (just moved and haven't reinstalled my MaxJax yet) at it's top height. This thing is just simply bad *** and is rock solid. It takes a few hours to do the install and the way I set it up in my garage, I can just leave one of the stantions bolted down all the time. So, when I want to do a setup - all I have to do is bolt down 5 bolts on the other one, connect the hydraulic lines and push a button. My only complaint is I wish it had a few more safety catch holes. There's only two drilled and there are times where you find you want to just crawl under and not have the car up so high because lying on your back you can't reach anything and it's uncomfortable to half-way sit up and try to work resting on your elbows. So, you can lift and stop it at whatever height you want, but the safety catch obviously keeps the thing from coming down should the hydraulics fail for some reason. Anyway, small gripe - but wish they put about 4 holes instead of two...

That's wasn't me raving about the MaxJax, but it might as well been. I agree with choinga 100%. The MaxJax is the best thing I've bought for my garage, I use it constantly. I've been working on jackstands for years, lusting after garages with lifts, but there was no way I could have on in my garage with it's normal height ceiling. I looked at scissor mid-rise lifts, but they block the middle of the car. When I saw a prototype of the MaxJax I knew I wanted one.
I got one of the 1st 20 in the country as part of a group buy and haven't regretted it since. I put in a 44 motor on Sat and it was so nice to tweek the height by bumping the lift an inch or so while mating the motor to the torque tube. And instead of crawling under the car, then jumping out and up on some stools and then back under, I let the lift do all the work. My back is happier. I leave mine up all the time, just disconnect the hoses on one side so my wife doesn't bump them.
My xmas present from her was a stool/creeper that works perfectly under the car at the max setting of the lift. Already put to use while connecting the starter and exhaust![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The cool thing about Costco was they included shipping in the price. It's heavy! I had to pick mine up from a freight depot and use an engine hoist to get it out of the truck. If you can't put up an standard lift due to your ceiling height, buy one, it's worth it.

A lift is a fantastic garage item. Back when I bought mine there was no such thing as the Max Jack and I could not fit a full size lift in my garage. I bought a scissor lift and it has served me well, although I would much rather have the Max!

You are lucky you don't live in CT and pay property taxes on all your cars. I pay more taxes to own my cars than my buddies do on their houses in CO.
