Default 944 Turbo power loss

Hi all,

I have a 1990 944 Turbo (952 model) that's just started having a very intermittent power loss. It'll suddenly lose power and drop to idle revs. This happens when it gets above 200O or so RPM, but doesn't always happen. It's a pain to drive at 2000 and below!

Any clues on what this might be?

In case it's relevant: It's also been idling a little rough for a while (and sometimes 'hunting' between 800 and 1000 RPM).

It had the clutch slave and master cylinders replaced a week ago (by the mechanic) and the power loss has happened since then.

Thanks, Gary

I would be looking for a vaccum leak based on the senerio. If it just started happening out of the blue I would look to the AFM. The trax on the afm may be getting deeper, it is possible to readjust them to a clean area.

952? Where you from mate?

check for vacuum leaks, original vacuum likes are known for popping off.
have a look at the flap in the AFM, it may be getting stuck.

Ask your mechanic what he did to replace the Clutch master cylinder.

Update - the problem was a ruptured inlet manifold gasket. Thanks for all the suggestions. cheers, Gary
