I owned a 928 for a short time, I agree more work and money to maintain. I agree with Van, buy the newest car you can afford. I'm shocked how much cars cost in some countries. I picked up my '77 corvette project for $1,500 a couple of weeks ago. A friend of mine has 4 350 engines in his shop and is going to GIVE me one free my choice from the 4. Good luck with your search for another car, sounds like boxster is your only choice based on your guidelines. But are BMW and VW prices looking like there? They have similar blood lines.

F40LM nice grab on the vet. my first car was a 77 camaro with a 305 that had new belts and tire for $1000 that lasted me all threw highschool. then i ended dropping a fully worked 383 stroker in it with vortec heads and aluminum pistons it made 450hp 500tq and blew the rearend up in less then a month. really want to fuel inject it soon to bad all my car money end up in the 924s.

I have both 928's and 944's now (along with a 914 and a corvette) maintenence for the porsches seem about the same to me as well as availability of parts. It is a fact (actually only my opinion) that the cheapest porsche you buy will be the most expensive. Updated maintenence is most important.

Cool dog pick dude. I agree with this if like the OP you do not have a good size area to work in. Otherwise I suggest to people to buy a good parts car and do the work yourself saving big $. Having a couple of parts car and a big shop area has really saved me money on my 944 build.

The only reason mine was a hassle is because the previous owner didnt give it enough TLC. Give your car the TLC it needs and it will love ya back. Biggest projects so far on mine were a Clutch blow up due to 28 year old rubber and a front engine reseal.
