Alright brain trust, here's my issue.
I recently bought a 944 that is running the SMT6 from Vitesse. It is tuned pretty rich, and it is affecting its drivability.
The problem I am having is getting the SMT6 software on my laptop to talk to the unit in the car. I have a netbook running Windows7. I have the Vitesse program set up to run in XP pack3 compatability mode, and have recently purchased a new USB-Serial cable and installed its driver. The computer sees the serial adaptor perfectly fine, and I have it set to COM1. However, whenever I go into the Vitesse software, I get the red "NO COMM'S" error at the bottom.
Is there something I am missing? I've followed all the advice found by searching the forums.
Thanks,
Brad

Make sure the usb to serial adapter is for win7. I know I had to buy a new one. You could also try searching for a win7 driver on google. Also, you need to make sure your comm port is correct. I believe you go in the device manager on the computer and set it to comm port #1 since that is what the smt6 uses as a default

Dillon;
The adaptor I bought works with Windows 7, and I installed the driver that came with it. I reset the the COM port to 1, and that is the same as the port in the SMT6.

ok, I was having trouble with mine a couple months ago. Are you plugging the converter in when the computer is on. That is the only way mine works. I know it works when I hear the weird noise when I plug it in and the computer recognizes it. I know, its always a pita to get it to connect.

I always have the serial cable in the computer prior to connecting the two serial ports. I will try your way to see if it works.
EDIT: Ok that didn't work either. Any other ideas?
