installing a fresh set of wires like these blue hp wires

from Zims @ every other fuel filter change interval will help ensure a hot spark....

your distributor cap can go the distance between belt changes..... but distributor rotor tip can break up after a shorter interval, destroy your cap — and leave you stranded... so if you want to go long with the cap, make sure you change the rotor at fuel filter time at least every 20~25 k miles or sooner.....

for any of you new 944 owners, if my information is accurate, there maybe something to the rumour that your 25 year old alarm modules get wet and short out, causing either dme shutdowns or failures. here's the instructions on bypassing the alarm from Clark's Garage.

i've never had a no start on either my 944 or 968. and as you can see i'm still quite a novice on the subject.... anyway, should your dme actually beat the odds and get a clean bill of health, it seems like your old cracked wires, hoses, and vacuum leaks might be the next logical place to go. slow electrical drains could suggest this is the problem. finally, the next time your gf suggests the car might be a ****box, you can always blame it on the local rodents.... our P-cars can be a cozy treat on the cold nights and it's also been suggested on other forums that rodents love the flavor of Bosch hoses and wires. here's a couple of shots from the Audiwebs....

not for one moment. crass, sarcastic contributions are exactly what we're looking for here.

but if anyone can actually post some real info that could lead to a breakthrough... please cowboy up.

Thanks, I needed an explanation.

You are serious about a "breakthrough' for delusional owners who found a "pristine" 944 for $900 to $1700. The Porsche curse.

Bad grounds?
