yes I am stupid ........... apparently when I climb under the dash I was looking at the relay panel upside down before ........ enough said

ok this time I got the fuel pump relay out part number 3.300.300 and with key off I put jumper wire in slots #30 and #87 and I can hear new fuel pump start running Nobody carry's one locally of course so before I go and order one online for $16.75 plus $5.95 shipping and another week wait again am I correct in thinking the fuel pump relay is bad and needs replacement ?

Not necessarily. What is your problem? No start or no power?

car used to start and run fine then sat and would not start so it sat for a long time then I replaced both fuel pumps, fuel dizzy still nothing then checked the AUX fuse panel number 2 fuse had no power, so I checked the extra universal fuse under the dash again no power there either, then after some time thinking about it I removed the correct relay (fuel pump relay) and put jumper wire between #30 and #87 now I had power and fuel pump was running on jumper wire........... But I did not try to start car on jumper wire

Does your tach move when turning over the engine? Do you have spark?

Then I would go ahead and try a new relay. If that isn't it you need a spare in your glovebox anyways.

If it has a fuel distributer, it would be a 2.0 924. What year/model are you working on?

it is a 1982 924 non-turbo , I used to call it a fuel distributor block but everyone else calls them a fuel dizzy so after awhile I started calling them that also.

guess I am going to just order a fuel pump relay to give it a try

A lot of the people on this particular section are very familiar with the 2.5 litre, but not with CIS. There is a not as viewed tech section regarding 2.0 924's on Rennlist and also 924board.org are going to be better sources for info. I have a "too fah" also and have not yet "wrapped my head around CIS" diagnosis.

1982 Porsche 924 non turbo

ok I am still playing with this at this point I just want to get it started so I can paint it and sell it I've had enough of this aggravating car

what I have done so far: empty and clean tank, replace in-tank fuel pump with new, replace external fuel pump , replace filter, replace fuel block dizzy......... next found there is no power to the #2 spot of the aux fuse panel (fuel pump) put a jumper wire form #30 to #87 and can hear pump run I also have power on the #2 fuse in Aux panel but NO power to any of the four wires going to the relay under the dash I DON"T KNOW WHY[b] . With jumper wire installed I can smell gas up at the engine and the car trys to start but immediately dies

I order and installed a new fuel pump relay but does not make any difference . I know if the fuse under the dash is bad car will not run but if I have power at the AUX fuse panel #2 fuse I should have one hot wire at the fuse under the dash but I do NOT

I am looking for some more ideas , other then a stick of dynamite and a match which is under careful consideration at this point

Well the relay terminals are the same as the 944 DME relay. Don't know squat about a 924 but here is a writeup on the 944 fuel pump (DME) relay.

It has been awhile since I played with mine, but it would start on the cold start injector and die. So I was told to rebuild the fuel dist and WUR. I rebuilt and dist as per instructions on 924board and at first had no fuel until I figured out the large plate had to move in order to activate the fuel pump. It has been the subject of a horse trade so I haven't played with it since.
