I'm guessing that is it also. First time I did it I thought it was a touch too loose so I tightened it a little. DARN. Gotta tear this thing apart again lol. Anyone know what size the bolts are that hold the timing belt cover to the block? I think mine were missing to begin with...

You can get new Bosch reference sensors for the 944 cheap on ebay. (with free shipping) Bosch are preferred to aftermarket sensors that do not have the "silver" cap on the end to protect the internals.

The interchange is a BMW sensor with a longer wire.
Good to have as a spare.

Make sure to retension the belts after 500 to 700 miles later. New belts will stretch as the belt "teeth" compress in the pullys.

You just knocked the Sensor loose... Not a big deal. I have done it a few times; one such time was when i did my Belts. Same Exact Situation as you. I believe it happened when i was trying to find TDC through that little Window in the Bell Housing...

As for the Belt Whine, it is your Balance Belt...

-If you loosen it (like way looser than you would think) the noise be almost disappear. Mine did the same thing... Actually i just tightened mine a few weeks ago, while diagnosing a vibration issue (didn't help) and now it whines... Need to Loosen it back up this weekend. It becomes annoying especially at stop lights..

The Belt cover bolts are little 10mm bolts. You can actually access the BBelt Tension-er from under the car. Just lay under the front bumper, it is right above the Power Steering Pump... With proper tools it should not take more than 20 minutes.

Congrats on Successful Completion of this job!

You can get OEM Bosch on paragon for around $60 a piece I think. That's where I got mine from, maybe they were on sale because they're usually upwards of $100 a piece.

thanks for the responses yall! The tight belt noise actually makes it sound more like a supercharged car than a turbo'd car haha. Gotta go loosen it up this weekend.

The only thing is those small 10mm bolts didnt work when i tried to use them to hold the cover to the engine block. They were too small.

So i loosened the belt and the noise went away.. but as I listen closer now I have a small chirp/squeak that i dont think was there before after i let the engine run a little bit. All of my rollers were good as I checked them when i did the initial timing belt/balance shaft belt change... maybe something is too loose or tight now? ugh.. anyone know what it could be? hoping i dont have to go all the way back in to find out what it is AGAIN

Get a mechanic stethoscope at Harbor Freight or ??

To me it sounds like the compressor clutch/coil is "chirping"

Engine sounds real good, nice job.

The AC compressor has a floating clutch activated by the coil. The clutch bearing may be chirping.

Strange. I agree with the others. Sounds like its coming from the driver side; right?
A piece of hose to your ear might help isolate the exact spot. Maybe simple like the AC/alternator belt could be too tight or loose...

Turn the AC on (if it works... if not, you can activate the clutch with a 12v jumper wire). If the chirp goes away, it's the clutch bearing. If not, it's something else.

strangely enough, the AC was off when i made that video.. and i went back out and started the car and the noise isnt there anymore.. not to say it wont come back though.

UGH another issue... it sounds as if i have a vacuum leak somewhere maybe? when i blip the throttle, it stalls a bit (rpms go down a tad, then go up).. another video:

UGHH! lol

Ha ha! What's funny is I was going to say "just drive it And the noise will go away" sometimes stuff gets on the belt and needs to wear off....
My advice for this hesitation is "just drive it" I actually didn't notice the hesitation in the video.. but I watched it on my phone and it was choppy..
