Where do you buy your oil?
I'm about to do a TON of maintenance on my 87 944t this weekend including an oil and filter change. Where do you guys normally get your oil from and what do you usually use? The guy I bought my car from used valvoline vr1 racing oil. I was also told castrol or brad penn 20w50 would do the trick too. Synthetic? Non-Syntethic? Blend?
Also Should I buy the ZDDP additive in addition to these oils? I was just going to use a bottle of STP additive instead (hopefully this wont start a war by asking haha)

Did you read the new member posting and hazing rules?
Did you read the section on "Questions never to ask"?
You are required to read "The ultimate oil thread"
You will be tested and ridiculed. Now 84 pages and no pictures.

Valvoline VR1 has a lot of ZDDP. I bought a case at PEP boys for $1.65 a quart when it was on sale in April.
Why do you want to use a can of glue in the engine when it has an OPRV valve with 2 "O" rings to gum up using STP?
Seriously.
See, it has started already...................

In my experience the mention of oil on any car forum leads to a flaming.
Thread: Where do you buy your oil?
Best answer I have seen is:
"The brand of oil you use depends on your personal preferances. I get it at my local store and prefer a "first-pressed" as it has a lower viscosity. Personally i prefer Olivio Brand but there are many other good brands to choose from. I don't use additives except for maybe a little salt and pepper." - Posted on e46fanatics

I can buy it locally. But I am using the Mobil 1 5W-40 so it is available. Does not require the additive package.
I would stay away from the STP unless you know you have some very bad rings or something. But that is me.

Not to take away from any members. But I take my oil advice from www.bobistheoilguy.com
Lots of UOA's and VOA's with explainations on oil and additives..
I do my research and make an educated choice.
