Clutch won't disengage :(
So I finally got around to replacing my thermostat and thermofan switch a few weeks ago. Things got hectic at work and I was in the middle of buying a house, so the project got delayed a couple weeks and I ended up finishing it last weekend. Was so excited, got the coolant bled, temperature was hovering right around where I wanted it, got ready to take it for a spin.... and couldn't get it in gear! Very quickly discovered that the clutch is not disengaging and haven't messed with it since
Last year, I replaced the slave, hoses and master cylinder and the pedal feels normal and rebounds as usual so I can't figure out what is going on! Thinking maybe the clutch plates are stuck? Or worse: the rubber mass is gone
Soooo, any ideas? Going to put it back up on stands on Sunday to see what I can see, I really don't want this to turn into a clutch job!

If you still have a rubber center clutch and replaced the master and the slave at same time then that's probably it. The rubber clutch i mean. Double check the usual stuff like clutch adjustment. Pull the starter, drop the slave out of the way and see if you can ensure the fork is operating right. They have been known to snap as well.
Good luck. And if you never have had to do a 944 clutch before look at it as a learning experience. I learned alot during mine.

How long was the car sitting?
My plates were stuck together when I first fired up the car (it had been sitting for 10 years). I was not able to break them loose by jacking up the rear end and applying the handbrake, or heel-toeing the pedal brakes while hitting the gas. In the end, I started the car while it was in first and drove it up my driveway (with clutch pedal depressed) and it finally broke free.
So, it does happen. And it's alot easier to make sure your plates aren't stuck than it is to replace the clutch.

Thanks for the replies! The car was on stands for almost a month but I managed to break it free today! Just started the car with clutch in and in gear and drove it a short bit down the street and managed to free it up. WHEW! Big sigh of relief!
There's nothing better than reuniting with your p-car after it has been laid up for a bit. Temp was steady between the first and second mark on the instruments and the cooling fans ran for a bit and stopped after I put her in the garage. No more dead batteries or pulling relays!! Now I just need to figure out what's up with the A/C :/
