Howdy folks, the car in question is my 86 944na, late model dash. It gets driven often as it is my daily driver, but when it has set for a day or sometimes even overnight, the speedo will not work until i shift into 2nd gear and get around 40mph. Once it does start working, it will continue to work. When i slow down below 40-0mph it works fine. and if i stop the car and then start it again it works fine. But once it has sat for 12 hours or so, it doesn't kick in until ~40mph...
Any suggestions on what is going out and what i should check?
Thanks,
Keaton

Try This:
Perhaps the cable is damaged or sticking?

The senders do wear out, too. Mine became intermittent, before finally dying. They have a spinning magnet and a miniature reed switch that creates pulses. Reed switches have a very finite lifespan.
