Default Oil pressure gauge and voltmeter issues

I was having a problem with my oil pressure gauge pegging over five with the warning light staying on with or without the engine running. Searching the archives on various sites indicated it was a bad sender even, though it was new. It was fixed by putting in a new "!" light.

Now my last problem is the alternator light does not come on with the light test or when the engine is cranking. The bulb is a good. The battery drains while the motor is running, so the alternator is not getting tripped. I am going to have the alternator tested tomorrow. What other issues could keep the light from coming on during cranking or the light test?

All the grounds are new. I have been looking around and I may need a resister in line. BTW, it is a LS swap so the alternator is not original. The wiring is the same. I still should see the alternator light when cranking.

Update: had the alternator tested, it was dead.
