Starter vs Ignition Swith

Starter vs Ignition Swith
Hey guys need some help,
Lately my 944 has been turning over very very slowly, in a few cases it would spin at all, then i would wait a second and try again and then it would fire off but slowly again.
Yesterday i brought it home and parked it in the driveway and i got nothing, no sound nothing. So i tried jumping it, no luck, could only pop start it. I let it run and drove around for about 20 mins thinking that battery needed a charge.
Brought it home parked it in the garage, turned it off, and tried to start it again. No luck!
I pulled the battery and had it tested, it comes back as a good battery which makes me think its the starter.
But over the last year i've also been have some problems with the ignition. The car would always start fine and the radio worked, but everything else(windows, Headlights, and HVAC, etc....) wouldnt work until you wiggled the key around, more recently you had to wiggle the key and hold it there while you operate the windows, etc...
My question sorry for the long lead in, but does this sound like a starter or the igintion swith finally died?
Thanks
Steve

I can pull an ignition switch in under 2 minutes.....its an easy thing to check. And a cheap thing to replace.
I had very similar problems to what you described when I found my switch in that condition....
More recently.....I was starting my car with the switch pulled from the ignition assembly using a screw driver while I waited for a new column lock assembly to come in....
the first day I had it reassembled I had to key wiggle to get it started....the next day it just wouldnt start.....grabbed my tools out of the back...
pulled the switch....
screwdrivered it and it started right up....
Id worn my replacement switch's hole funny using the screwdriver for a week... so I had to order another.

Thanks for the quick response, it certainly sounds like the problem i'm having.
Which number would think they piece you are talking about is. I'm thinking 37, i was orginally thinking about replacing 33 but i think your option sounds better. Let me know what you think, unforuntaly your car is an early car mine is a late seems to be different parts/numbers.
Thanks again

ahh didnt realize you were late.....
your part 33 corresponds to the plastic switch in an early ignition....its the actual switch.....
37 is part of the ignition lock assembly (30) the end of part 37 interfaced with the X shaped "keyhole" in the late ignition switch.
Your best bet is to just get in there and inspect the components for wear/damage. Once youve pulled 33 you can look in the tube and see the tip of 37 but odds are you wont be able to remove it without drilling into the column lock assembly
I cant offer much more advice however as my experience is primarily with early cars.
