Default Just bought a 944, headlight problems

Hey whats up everyone. Just picked up an 87 944. I'm having some problems with the headlights - whoever had the car before us put in this HID xenon kit. The headlights only come on intermitantly - the motors work fine, they always come up, but they only actually come on sometimes. And then as soon as I turn the switch and turn them off, they won't come back on again. Sometimes if the switch is on but they aren't on, and I fiddle with the switch a little bit, they will come on. There is an audible clicking noise coming from by the passenger side headlight as I fiddle. Any ideas?

Check to see if the PO (previous owner) installed the correct wiring kit with the HID kit.

Yeah that's the one

Edit: Although it seems the 12V power is connected straight to the battery terminal, rather than the alternator as recommended by that link. Surely this couldn't be the problem though, right? I mean, can't get 12V much more directly then straight off the battery +..

dead/dying relays in the harness? also, check to see that the harness was installed correctly.

It seemed to me that the relays and fuses must be fine, since the headlights worked a couple times intermitantly. I'm not familiar with the concept of a relay "dying" but not being dead - could you please elaborate?

My first guess was the switch itself inside the car, since it works when fiddled with sometimes and when it does work, as soon as I switch it off and on again it doesn't work.
