Default pre 85.5 AC question

I recently replaced the compressor and drier. I recharged the unit with about 2 1/2 cans of freeze 12. The clutch would not engage on the compressor. I jumped the compressor and the clutch does engage. Need help troubleshooting what is keeping the AC from coming on. When I had the AC jumped, the car still did not blow cold. When I turn the AC **** the fan does not blow. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you press the A/C switch, does the compressor clutch engage? If not, it could be the low volume cut off switch is bad. You probably removed the terminals from this switch in order to jump them to get the compressor running for the refill. Does your blower motor come on at all? Try turning the fan **** to position 4. If the fan only comes on in pos 4, could be a bad resistor block.

Lizard944, Thanks for the reply. I actually have a pre 85.5 944 so I do not have a A/C switch. Any suggestions for a pre 85.5?

I've recently been through this. Your options: bad a/c amplifier (this is what controls the temperature), bad evaporator temp sensor (if the resistance of the thermistor is too high it will keep it from engaging. This was my problem), and a bad A/C relay.
